When Bill Vernon was playing in Giannini Brass, we set up a session in Asheville to make a recording with his brother Charlie, the legendary bass trombonist of the Chicago Symphony. When we got to the church, we had to call a piano tuner and it took so long waiting for a tuning, that we did not have time to fix some rough spots (and, the piano never quite got totally tuned). Charlie bought everyone veggie Not Dogs at the YMCA and we had a good time hanging out. |
